To me, success is doing what you want to do, how you want to do it, when you want to do it, and where you want to do it. Success is all about calling your own shots in life and doing things on your own terms, without ever having to answer to anyone but yourself. Over the course of my lifetime, I’ve found that lasting success can be achieved by following these ten basic rules:
Rule 1: Know what you don’t know.
Rule 2: Anticipate situations before they become problems.
Rule 3: Don’t let other people make their problems your problems.
Rule 4: Concentrate on doing what you do best.
Rule 5: Set a goal, make a plan, and work hard.
Rule 6: Accept full responsibility for your own actions.
Rule 7: Understand that agreements are only as good as the people who sign them.
Rule 8: Assume nothing, verify everything, and be prepared for anything.
Rule 9: Learn from your past mistakes and don’t repeat them.
Rule 10: Do what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it.

Recommended Reading List for Florida’s Do-It-Yourself Residential Landlords
The best, fastest, and least extensive way to acquire the specialized knowledge that you’re going to need to be a successful do-it-yourself residential landlord in Florida, is to read books that contain reliable how-to information and practical no-bullspit advice. But if you happen to be one of the many shortsighted people in America, who are hesitant to invest in themselves, please ponder these immortal words of wisdom from former Harvard University President Derek Bok, “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” And do not make the colossal mistake of allowing the cost of a few essential books to come between you and success, especially when you can find most of them used at online bookstores on the Internet. The following is a listing of eight books–in no particular order–that every serious do-it-yourself Florida residential landlord should eventually have in their reference library:
1. The Florida Landlord’s Manual
2. How to Win Friends and Influence People
3. The Florida Landlord’s Eviction Manual
4. The 80/20 Principle
5. Goals: How to Get Everything You Want — Faster than You Ever Thought Possible
6. The E Myth Revisited
7. Everybody’s Guide to Small Claims Court
8. Think and Grow Rich

As I see it, my obligation as a blogger is to tell it to my readers as it really is, while avoiding the politically correct gobbledygook that permeates every aspect of American society today. For the record, I stand behind everything I write!
